World Snow Leopard Day Greetings from the Republic of Tatarstan

Greetings for World Snow Leopard Day are arriving today from the Republic of Tatarstan. For the hockey team "Ak Bars" (White Snow Leopard), this day holds special significance. The sports club, which bears the name of the 'white leopard,' has joined the celebrations and recorded a video greeting.

A significant contribution to supporting and preserving the snow leopard population in Russia is made by Rais Rustam Nurgalievich Minnikhanov of the Republic of Tatarstan. On his initiative, the "Snow Leopard" Centre for Biodiversity Conservation was built in the Altai Republic.

Furthermore, in March of this year, the international conference "Study and Conservation of the Snow Leopard Across the World. Uniting Efforts," organised jointly by the "Irbis" Association and the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, was held in Kazan with the Rais’s support. Rustam Nurgalievich is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the "Irbis" Association.

It is worth recalling that in early 2024, the "Irbis" Association signed a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Tatarstan, marking an important step in their joint, systematic work to study and protect the snow leopard.
