The life of the snow leopard (snow leopard) in the wild of Russia was captured in such detail for the first time. The plot takes place in the Altai Mountains, where snow leopards, rare and majestic predators, face the threat of extinction. The main character of the film is a snow leopard cub who has just appeared in the world, which the staff of Sailyugemsky National Park call Tural (in Altai, "immortal"). He got this name after all his fellow badgers died during the winter feeding shortage, and only Tural survived. But when the threat to life has passed, the baby suddenly disappears from the field of view of the staff of the national park. Will he be able to survive in the wild? And will ever return to native Sailugem?
The film features two parallel stories that converge at the end. We are following a baby badger who leaves his native land and finds himself alone with the wild, adapts to the difficulties of living in unexplored places, learns to hunt, find shelter, and interact with;other animals.
The viewer is immersed in a world of desperate struggle for survival and confrontation with the danger posed by man.
The second line tells about the difficulties of the work of inspectors and scientists of the national park, who protect the snow leopard, conduct observations and face numerous difficulties, including poaching. During an expedition along the snow leopard trails in the Argut River Valley, the heroes find themselves in dangerous situations, but they do not give up, continuing to fight for the preservation of snow leopards.
There are about 75−90 snow leopards left in Russia. The reasons for the decline in the number of the species: habitat destruction, infrastructure construction, poaching, reduction of the forage base (wild ungulates), shooting by cattle breeders in retaliation for attacks on livestock.
