Kazan is poised to become the world’s central stage for addressing the conservation of the snow leopard, as it prepares to host the international conference, "Study and Conservation of the Snow Leopard Across the World. Uniting Efforts," from 13th to 15th March.
Scientists regard the snow leopard as an irreplaceable symbol and a vital indicator of the health and sustainable development of mountain ecosystems, which represent some of our most crucial natural resources. The global programme for the conservation of the snow leopard and its ecosystems was originally endorsed by all 12 range states at the 2013 Global Snow Leopard Forum.
The upcoming conference will see participation from every one of these nations: Afghanistan, Bhutan, China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
The event will gather world-renowned scientists, such as Bilal Habib from India and Shi Kun from China, alongside other leading figures from the scientific community, civil society, and environmental groups. Upon the conclusion of the first working day, attendees will be presented with the Kazan Resolution for adoption.
The conference is organised by the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Interregional Association "Irbis" Centre for the Study and Conservation of the Snow Leopard, and the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia.
