Record numbers of snow leopards and argali in russia

The Interregional Association "Irbis" summarizes the results of environmental work in 2024 and thanks its partners and friends for their support, assistance and professional dedication to the benefit of Russia's nature.
This year, the Irbis Association has managed to do a lot of good deeds for the benefit of Russia's nature. And the main thing is our most important treasure, the snow leopard.:
At least 87 snow leopards were recorded in Russia for the first time!
This is the result of the All-Russian "census" of snow leopards, which took place for the first time in all 4 regions of habitat.

The Altai Republic has signed a cooperation agreement with the Interregional Association "Irbis".
The new partnership will enable an innovative approach to the study and conservation of the region’s biodiversity.

4074 argali were counted in Russia, and for the first time the number of the species in our country is higher than in neighboring Mongolia.
Accounting for the number of Altai mountain sheep in Russia and Mongolia has received the support of the Irbis Association and allowed it to cover key habitats of the species in the transgranch zone of the two countries.

A cooperation agreement has been signed with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Tatarstan.
The parties will cooperate in the study, conservation and restoration of the snow leopard population, as well as interact in the framework of environmental education.

A compensatory flock of sheep in Tuva will help to compensate shepherds from attacks on cattle of a rare predator during the hungriest period for the animals.
The Irbis Association helped to purchase hay for livestock for the winter, salt for fertilizing, and to pay for the work of veterinarians. Compensating shepherds for damage caused by predator attacks will reduce conflict and allow the snow leopard to be preserved.

15 Altai Saker falcons have been released into the nature of the Altai Mountains.
The Irbis Association supports the conservation of Saker falcons since 2021.

The Association’s staff became participants and speakers at international scientific forums and meetings where they discussed efforts to protect nature.
Regional and international events brought together experts on nature conservation and covered a wide range of formats — a round table in the Altai Republic with Tajik experts on snow leopard, the 9th meeting of the Joint Russian-Mongolian Commission, Scientific-The BRICS Educational Congress on Ecology and Climate Change, the II International Forum "Falcon Day" within the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum.
Association "Irbis"He is the winner of the Vernadsky National Environmental Award in the nomination "Conservation of Ecosystems and Biodiversity".

Russia's first full—length snow leopard film, "The Master of the Altai Mountains," has received numerous Russian and international awards, and most importantly, the recognition and love of the audience.
The film became the best in the nomination "Best Documentary" of the International Environmental Television Festival "Save and Preserve". The premiere of the film took place in Kazakhstan and Russian cities.
