"Irbis" Association Reveals Secrets of Filming the Snow Leopard at the "Golden Turtle" Festival

The question of whether it is possible to capture one of the planet’s most elusive predators—the snow leopard—became the central theme of the "Irbis" Association’s presentation at the International Wildlife Festival "Golden Turtle."
The focus was on Russia’s first full-length documentary film about the snow leopard, "Master of the Altai Mountains," created on the initiative of Ali Uzdenov, Chairman of the General Assembly of the "Irbis" Association.
Daria Petrova, Director of the Association, the film’s scriptwriter, and producer, shared with festival guests how the filming of the snow leopard in the Altai mountains took place and what tremendous effort lies behind every single frame.
This is how understanding is born. First—years of painstaking work in harsh conditions, then—footage that touches the soul. And suddenly, a mysterious creature from distant legends becomes close and cherished. This is precisely the connection the 'Irbis' Association works to create.

The festival also featured Denis Malikov, Director of the Sailugemsky National Park, who shared insights into the work of rangers and scientists in snow leopard habitats, as well as Igor Pautov, Head of the "On the Trail of the Snow Leopard" volunteer expedition and Strategic Development Advisor to the "Irbis" Association.
The event vividly demonstrated how the art of cinema and years of field work unite for a single purpose—the study and conservation of the snow leopard, and to bring the beauty and fragility of the natural world to a broad audience.
The "Irbis" Association extends its gratitude to the organisers of the "Golden Turtle" festival and ‘Roszapoved Tsentr' for the invitation and the opportunity to speak about what truly matters.
