The "Irbis" Association acted as a partner for the finals of the All-Russian "Big Change" competition for 8th-10th grade school students, held at the International Children’s Centre "Artek".
The Association’s Director, Daria Petrova, led sessions for the finalists, informing young people from across the country about how the snow leopard is studied and conserved in Russia. The attendees were also shown the film "Master of the Altai Mountains".
It was particularly heartening to see how the children, despite the geographical and climatic differences of their home regions, listened to stories about the snow leopard with equal interest and engagement, asked questions, and sincerely empathised with the cause of protecting this rare predator.
Attending the lecture "On the Importance of Nature Conservation (using the Altai Mountain ecosystem as an example)" was Zlata Kudirmekova, an 11th-grade student from the Republican Classical Lyceum in the Altai Republic. Zlata listened with pride to the presentation about the unique nature of her homeland and promised to share her new knowledge about the snow leopard and its conservation with her classmates.
