IBCA: Article on the Snow Leopard Within the International Big Cat Alliance

The International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) has published an article highlighting the conservation efforts of the "Irbis" Association in Russia. The article emphasises the importance of cross-border cooperation, the results of the first all-Russian snow leopard census, and the role of public organisations in protecting the species.
The piece also notes the successful reintroduction and translocation projects implemented in the Sayano-Shushensky Nature Reserve and the establishment of the "Snow Leopard" Biodiversity Conservation Centre in the Altai Republic.
"Russia's experience in snow leopard conservation demonstrates what can be achieved through a combination of state support, scientific research, and active civil society. The work of the ‘Irbis' Association serves as a model for other range states,"
— the article reads.
The publication reflects the growing international recognition of the "Irbis" Association’s work, which was officially admitted as a participant in the GSLEP (Global Snow Leopard and Ecosystem Protection Programme) in 2025.
