In 2024, the competition received a record number of submissions, with 113 photographers submitting over 1,000 photographs. The competition’s rigorous adjudication process identified 70 winning entries from the semi-final rounds in Altai Krai and the Altai Republic, with a total of 114 photographs being showcased at the exhibition. The winning photographers hailed from various regions, including Altai Krai, Altai Republic, St. Petersburg, Krasnoyarsk, and Novosibirsk, in addition to employees of federal protected areas within the Krai and the Republic.
The awards were traditionally divided into five primary categories, a special "Protected Altai" nomination, a literary "Essay" nomination, the title of "Photographer of the Year," the "Audience Award," and numerous special prizes from the organizers and partners of the project.
The contest was organized by Tigirek and Katun Nature Reserves, Sailugemsky National Park, GMILICA, and the National Library of the Altai Republic, which is named after M.V. Chevalkov. During the award ceremony, laudatory remarks were directed towards the photographers, who are the primary protagonists of the project, as well as the numerous partners who provided support to the "Wildlife of Altai" this year.
The objective of the photographic competition, "Wildlife of Altai," is twofold: first, to underscore the significance of nature conservation in Altai; and second, to promote the concept of creating images with the potential to effect global change. The most outstanding photographic works from the "Wildlife of Altai-2024" photographic competition are available for viewing on the competition’s website.
