This weekend, Daria Petrova, director of the Irbis Association, delivered a presentation to festival guests on the challenges encountered during the production of the 2023 film "The Master of the Altai Mountains." The discussion took place during the "Protected Extreme: The Most Difficult Wildlife Research" session. The audience posed numerous questions and expressed their gratitude to the conservationists for their efforts.
The production of Russia’s inaugural full-length film centered on snow leopards, titled "The Master of the Altai Mountains," spanned three years and involved a dedicated team of professionals, including directors, cameramen, scriptwriters, and producers, along with the principal cast members from Sailugemsky National Park.
The film’s narrative, characterized by its poignant and enthralling depiction of the irbis family, is underpinned by extensive filming in harsh mountainous conditions, punctuated by relentless winds and subzero temperatures. The film’s success is a testament to the unwavering dedication and exceptional skill of the filmmakers.
Denis Malikov, the director of the Sailugem National Park, participated in the lecture, during which he discussed the research methods employed in high-mountain environments. The Irbis Association has expressed its gratitude to the Roszapovedcenter for its assistance and support.
