Unique Catalogue "Snow Leopards of Russia"

  • /
The catalogue "Snow Leopards of Russia" was brought into being on the initiative of Ali Uzdenov, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Interregional Association "Irbis". The catalogue is a true passport office for all the snow leopards of Russia recorded by automatic cameras across the four regions of the species' range — the Republics of Tyva, Altai, Buryatia, and Krasnoyarsk Krai.
The "Irbis" Association has gathered the touching stories of every known snow leopard in Russia — their names, details of their fates and characters, wedding stories, and photo albums. In the lives of these snow cats, much like in human lives, there is room for encounters and falling in love, for rivalry and raising offspring, for lavish feasts and conflicts.
A separate chapter is dedicated to the snow leopards of Russian zoos, their fates, and the unique observations made of them.
The Interregional Association "Irbis" expresses its gratitude for the assistance in creating the catalogue to the Tunkinsky and Sailugemsky National Parks, the Sayano-Shushensky and Ubsunur Hollow Reserves, the Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Perm, Novosibirsk, and Chelyabinsk Zoos, and the "Snow Leopard" Centre for Biodiversity Conservation.
The catalogue will become an invaluable aid for environmental educators and specialists, as well as a unique gift for all lovers of the snow leopard.
